Account and data deletion
SYKÄ is an app developed by HIO Labs Oy. This page explains how to delete your SYKÄ account or individual data, what is deleted and what is kept.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself in the app: open Profile and choose Delete account. The deletion is confirmed by typing the word POISTA, and it cannot be undone.
You can also request deletion by email at info@syka.fi.
Deleting individual data
Favourites, calendar entries and followed organizers can be removed one by one in the app, without deleting your account.
What is deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes:
- your user account and sign-in details
- your favourites
- your calendar entries
- the organizers you follow
What is kept, and for how long
Analytics events about app usage are not linked to a user account, so they are not removed with the account and cannot be connected to you. They are kept for at most 14 months, after which they are deleted automatically.
Automatic backups may still contain data for at most 7 days, after which it is removed as the backups rotate.
Organizer accounts
If your account is linked to an organizer account, deletion works differently: the organizer's activities are archived, the organization's details are anonymised, and the organizer record stays in the system without identifying details, for referential integrity.
